Lifespan

Hard hat lifespan may vary depending on the conditions of each work site. Hard hats subjected to more wear and tear or used outdoors in direct sunlight may need to be replaced more frequently. Daily inspections are the best way to determine when to replace a hard hat shell, suspension, or the entire unit. Suggested replacement is based on service life (Based on when the hard hat was placed into service, not the manufacture date).

As a general guideline we recommend replacing hard hats every five years regardless of outside appearance, but this can vary due to use and job site conditions

Hardness of hat

"It is a typical hard hat. I was directed to this brand by a coworker. Apparently, I didn't order the correct one for comfort. I find this headset uncomfortable, especially the back part of the headset. There is no pad on the back that is in direct contact with my head. I will be finding some foam tape to cover up the hard plastic to make it more comfortable. The webbing is nice and rests easily on the top of my head. The piece in the back makes it uncomfortable for me to wear for long periods though."

"I like the vents. The front of the brim could be a bit wider and have a darkened underside for working outdoors. Still a nice hard hat."

Good Hard Hat

"We had issues with JSP suspensions. they were making them thinner and thinner, and guys were going through them every 3 weeks. After getting no where with manufacture it was time to change. Originally I wanted the Lift Hats, as all the guys loved the way they looked, and will wear them. Unfortunately I could not get a lower price, but was given the opportunity to look at the Briggs Hat. We tested a few, and the suspensions were designed a lot better. I whish they were the 6 ways, but there not. There are alot more comfy then most others suspensions. When turning the knob to adjust, it does a good job forming to the head., DOWNSIDE - The chin strap. This needs work, its an important feature when in an excavation, and working on pipe, so the hat doesn't fall off. It just rubs the ears raw, and hard to fasten (needs redesigning). Overall I give it 4 Stars. If you looking for a low cost hat no electric rated, this is your hat. * I'd Love to try some of the Lift Hats, and see how they compare (Hint Hint)? We have been using these since 2020."
