Not all impacts happen in a straight line. When you slip, fall or strike an object at an angle, your head can experience rotational motion in addition to direct impact forces. MIPS, short for Multi-Directional Impact Protection System, is designed to help reduce those rotational forces by allowing a low-friction layer inside the helmet to move slightly relative to the head during certain angled impacts.

In simple terms, it's engineered to help manage a type of force that traditional hardhats may not fully address.
